Almost any feed roller can make decent spike marks if the trees are easy to process, the harvester head is adjusted correctly, and the rollers are new. Normal steel rollers lose their best grip even after 3,000 hours. Whether due to worn-out rollers or challenging trees, normal rollers will eventually begin to slip.

To prevent slipping, operators usually raise feed roller gripping pressures. This leads to deeper spike marks (up to 20 mm) and increased fuel consumption. Deep spike marks are especially unwelcome in the plywood industry. The Moipu Flex Standard roller makes only 1–6 mm spike marks beneath the bark. A large gripping surface provides long-lasting hold in challenging conditions throughout the roller’s lifetime.

Unique Structure

Moipu Flex rollers consist of rubbered rim, gripping plates, bolts and side plates. When the rollers are assembled, side plates are welded to the rim. Side plates keep the gripping plates attached to the roller. Together with the rubber, the side plates allow the gripping plate to adapt to the tree surface. The bolt attachment makes it easy to replace the gripping plates, if the spikes are damaged.

Shape of the spike
Symmetrical spike guarantees excellent grip in both directions.

Height of the spike
Spike is 15 mm high. The stopper surface is 4 mm from the top of the spike.

​Bolt as an axle
Hard bolt acts as a bearing surface ensuring long lifetime. The plates can be easily changed because of the bolt.

​Stopper surface
Stopper surfaces on the gripping plates prevent the spikes from sinking too deep into the wood.

More Grip, More productivity

Unique structure allows Moipu Flex roller to work like a track. The roller offers a lot more gripping surface than a normal feed roller. More gripping surface means more grip, more productivity!

Track-like structure also means that the rollers are more gentle to the trees. You will notice this when feeding the small diameter trees. The tree tops don't break so often.

Save your costs

You will save costs two ways when using Moipu Flex rollers. The first is that you can drive with lower gripping pressures and with more grip. This saves your fuel costs/cubic.  

The another saving comes in long term. One of the Moipu flex roller features is rubber dampening. The rubber dampens hits from the trees to the harvester head. This saves the harvester head components in long term and makes harvesting more comfortable for driver.
