Our forest machine contracting dates back to 1968 when Juha and Jouko Moisio started forestry work using an agricultural tractor. Later we improved our fleet, and in 1979, a company was established under the name Velj. Moisio Ky. In 1995, the business became a limited company (Velj. Moisio Oy), and at the beginning of 2005 the name changed to Moisio Forest Oy to better represent our services in the increased international trade.
The Moisio Forest's manufacturing began in the 1980s as we started designing our own harvester head and as a result, our first harvester head equipped with a moving body structure was developed (Moipu 700).
At the beginning of the 1990s, we also started designing a new type of harvester head that would suit forwarders as well. This generated the Moipu 400 harvester head with a more advanced body structure than its predecessor.
At the end of the 1990s we started developing new kind of harvester head that would also fit forest machines. Moipu 400 harvester allowed one machine to do both harvesting and transport to piling.
The design and development of Moipu 400E for energy wood harvesting, based on the 400 model, was sparked by a client’s request at the beginning of the 21st century.
During 2006-2007 we designed, again at our clients' request, the new feeding Moipu 400ES and Moipu 300ES energy wood harvester heads. These speed up the working process and enable integrated harvesting. Moipu 300ES soon became our most popular model.
In 2008-2009 we designed a lighter Moipu 250ES harvester head, and also by request Moipu 500 harvester head, that is versatile enough to be used for both small bushes as well as final velling.
During summer 2010 we relocated into new premises in Viitasaari, mid-Finland and transferred our entire production into the new premises, where the development to improve harvesting methods continues.
