In the Cut-To-Length (CTL) method, logs are processed in the forest into different types of timber, or product assortments, based on their intended use. In the CTL method, 12-18 % of the harvester’s total working time is spent on feeding the wood. This means that during an eight-hour shift, 1 to 1.5 hours is spent solely on feeding the wood.

Feed rollers have a significant impact on both productivity and the costs associated with operating the harvester. Feed roller features are also crucial when it comes to the quality of the harvest and the residual damage left behind.

Poor feed rollers can lead to lower productivity, higher operational costs, and worse harvesting quality. Over time, this can increase fuel consumption, wear on the machine, and even the need for more frequent repairs.
